The aim of a mailing is to enable to contact several experts at the same time and to get a quick feedback from those who are interested.
Contacting directly the identified persons is very time consuming if you proceed expert after expert. Indeed, experience shows that only a proportion of the experts will be available and interested in a collaboration. A typical order of magnitude is around 10%. Indeed, 50% of the experts contacted open the mail, 50% of those who open the mail want to know more, 50% of those who want to know more are interested in a possible collaboration. All in all, only about 10% of the experts will be interested in a collaboration. These figures can of course vary greatly from one project to another.
A manual process can therefore take a long time, and there is a great risk that the project will not be completed. In addition, the platform allows for traceability that makes it possible to retrieve information about each expert and each project, which is very valuable when conducting several projects.
Finally, this way of proceeding is interesting when one wishes to remain anonymous, at least at the beginning of the collaborative project.
