The ideXlab platform makes it possible to protect the information circulating on the platform in a simple and transparent way for the user. To do this, we record (or ‘anchor’) an image (called ‘hash’) of the information to be protected on the blockchain.
What is the blockchain ?
According to the public authorities, the blockchain is a "method of recording continuously produced data in the form of blocks linked together in the chronological order of their validation, each block and its sequence being protected against any modification". A very important point to add to this definition is that the blockchain operates without a central control body, and therefore in a decentralised manner.
Why the blockchain is relevant to innovation ?
One of the key issues in innovation is to attribute intellectual property to ideas in a way that rewards those who originate them. It must therefore be possible to prove that a given person or organisation is the originator of an idea, at a given date. Therefore the primary use case we are interested in concerns the blockchain to trace the evidence of various intellectual property rights such as copyright, know-how and of course patents.
Using the ‘Protect’ function of the ideXlab platform, users can record information, events, files on the blockchain for which they can prove the anteriority in the future.
How to implement the blockchain in innovation ?
In the event of a conflict, the document whose existence is to be proven must be hashed and this hash must be compared with the hash that had been anchored in the blockchain. If the source document has not been modified in any way, it becomes indisputable that it existed as it was on the anchoring date.
This is what we allow through a simple action on the ideXlab platform called "Protect", which allows to register an event occurring on the platform (publication or exchange of information, generation of a document) in a few clicks.
The legal recognition of the use of the blockchain for innovation protection is growing rapidly.
